Inkamana
History

Situated in the heart of Zululand, Inkamana High School was started February in 1923 as an intermediate School with only one class (grade 5) by Bishop Spreiter and other Benedictine Missionaries from Germany. The new school had 15 pupils, four boys and eleven girls, all from Vryheid and Paulpietersburg district. They were all boarders at Inkamana. They paid sixpence a month for school fees and brought farm and garden products to pay for their boarding accommodation. The first Junior Certificate Examination was held at Inkamana in November 1934. The Senior Certificate course at Inkamana began in 1935. A year later four pupils were preparing for their graduation. However, three of them left. The first student, who successfully wrote her Senior Certificate Examination in Nov. 1936, was Ulrica Dzivane. Since then the Senior Certificate results have gained for Inkamana the reputation of being one of the best schools in the country. The school recorded a hundred percent pass rate in matric examinations from 1979 until 2019. But in 2020 and 2021 the 100% pass rate was achieved successfully again. The class of 2021 all obtained a bachelors pass.

Voice of the Youth

Public
Speaking

“Public speaking, whether it’s on a stage or in a conference room, isn’t some magical, innate skill.” Whether it’s a classroom speech for thirty or a head prefect speech for hundreds, we’ve all seen speakers who can keep the audience hanging on every word – and these who have their audiences counting the minutes until they leave. Inkamana High School’s Public Speaking Club trains you to be charismatic, confident and engaging so that there’s never a dull moment when you are on the stage.
Excellence in Motion

Athletics &
Fitness

From the ancient Greek Olympics to the flashy displays of astounding feats of speed, strength and endurance that we see in modern Olympics, athletics have always been a unifying sport that brings together man and woman alike. Inkamana values the importance of athletics and its enthusiasm towards athletics can be seen at full force during the Annual-Interhouse Athletics. This is an event in which the two houses, Amadube and Izimpala, face each other in the ultimate showcase of their athletic capabilities, sheer determination and good sportsmanship. The school offers a fitness programme in which students are taken on jogs around the school premises and undergo vigorous exercises to increase their strength, speed and stamina all while under the supervision of a trusted and qualified adult.
